Bhartiya Jalpan review – Dahi Puri and Chole Kulcha combo

Nestled in the busy streets of Shivaji Nagar, Bengaluru, there’s a fantastic food spot called Bhartiya Jalpan. It’s been serving tasty dishes since 1945. When we walked in, we were hit with the delicious smell of spices, getting us ready for some good food. Bhartiya Jalpan has a welcoming vibe.

They have plenty of seats across two floors, so you’ll always find a spot. Downstairs can get a bit crowded, but it’s great for grabbing some quick street food. Upstairs, it’s cooler with comfy seats. They’re just right for kicking back and enjoying your meal at a relaxed pace. You can’t discuss Bhartiya Jalpan without discussing its many kinds of food. They have everything. It’s from classic North Indian dishes to fast food and tasty street snacks. Whether you’re in the mood for tangy chaat, comforting biryani, or spicy Chinese food, you’ll find it all here.

Dahi Puri and Chole Kulcha

When we visited, we had to try some of the restaurant’s famous dishes. We kicked things off with the Dahi Puri, which was amazing. They are crispy bites. They are filled with spicy potatoes, tangy tamarind chutney, and cool yogurt. Each bite was bursting with flavor. This was especially true with the crunch of coriander and sev. We couldn’t get enough of it! After enjoying the Dahi Puri, we dove into another classic: the Chole Kulcha. It was everything we hoped for and more. The kulchas were soft and fluffy, as they should be. They paired perfectly with the spicy and tangy chole. Each bite was a flavor explosion, with the aroma of spices adding to the whole experience. It was definitely a meal to remember.

While the food at Bhartiya Jalpan was fantastic, we did encounter a couple of small issues. The narrow staircase to the first floor made it tricky to carry our plates. Finding parking on busy Commercial Street was also a bit of a challenge. But , these little inconveniences were overshadowed by the amazing food waiting for us.
